The Swinburne Film Society

Do you like watching movies? Want to become a filmmaker or an actor/actress? The Swinburne University Film Society includes movie nights, discussion meetings with free pizza, and events where we make our own film projects!

Welcome! We are the Swinburne University Film Society

If you love watching, discussing or making films, this is your club. Our goal is to encourage a strong creative culture within the university as well as bring all students who are passionate about films together into a supportive and friendly environment. This is also the club for you if you simply want to know more about films or filmmaking!

Our club includes movie nights as well as “analysis meetings” where we casually discuss the film we watched, this will include free pizza!

For those interested in making, or acting in films, we will also have meetings where we talk about the films we like, all get to know each other and then form groups to create our own film projects that we will showcase within the year! This is inclusive for anyone who wants to be the next Swinburne Hollywood actor/actress or director!

Whether you want to just chill and watch a movie, learn a bit about films, create your own masterpiece or be Swinburne’s next superstar, this club has something for everyone!

Since we can't have movie nights during ISO we thought it'd be fun to do a book club for films! Weekly, we'll assign a film for all of us to watch and then discuss at the meeting, this can include a general discussion of what we liked and what we found interesting, to what themes did we get out of it, what cinematography did we find enthralling, what did we think of the colour, lighting, acting? This week we will be discussing American Beauty!
