Linux command line and security workshop
This week, we will be working through the exercises on https://overthewire.org/wargames/, which teach you how to operate a Linux distribution from the command line, and how to assess the security of a Linux web server.
A regular (every odd-numbered week) meet-up for users of Linux, and those interested in Linux, to:
- Discuss new innovations in Linux and related software
- Learn new Linux-related skills
- Assist each other with technical issues
This week, the Swinburne Linux Club and Swinburne Cyber Security will be working through the exercises on https://overthewire.org/wargames/. The early exercises teach you how to operate a Linux distribution from the command line (useful on systems without monitors, like web servers), and assume no prior experience with Linux. More advanced exercises are also available, teaching skills related to assessing the security of Linux web servers.
Note that you do not need to have Linux installed on your computer when working through these exercises, as we will be remotely accessing Linux servers provided by overthewire.org.
